It Happened

We reduced our asking price and had so many showings in 3 days that I lost track. As in, I stepped out of the shower and StinkBug said "why are those people in our front yard?"

Saturday we had a record number of tornadoes in the Land of Oz. The kids and I set up camp downstairs with cheeze its, water bottles and the lone flashlight purchased earlier in the evening while we wandered the aisles of Target during yet another house showing. We were fine but this happened not too far away. I know families who were directly effected by it.

Sunday afternoon the kids and I took refuge at the library during yet another house showing. Big Yankee kept calling my cell and I would hang up and start to text. He was relentless so I eventually abandoned my children in the stacks of books and went outside to take his call. He was ecstatic because out agent called and was EXTREMELY CONFIDENT that we would be receiving one or possibly more offers by the end of the day.

And we did. Around 10 pm we received an offer for asking price with a few other details that we countered on. Meanwhile in the Potato Capital, Big Yankee was harassing politely persuading a property manager to rent us a house that I've never even set foot in. We went back and forth with the buyers and found ourselves agreeing being forced to close on the last day of school or have them walk away.

We now have one of these in our front yard.

I have 30 days to pack up our house, sell a riding lawnmower & other large appliances, plan & host 2 birthday parties and a going away party, and orchestrate a cross country move.

I foresee many mental breakdowns and excessive wine consumption in my immediate future.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Also I like white wine.

Woo HOO! Yay, I'm so excited for you. And really really glad it's not me. I've decided that I can never move because I don't have the mental fortitude to deal with the process. Just keep saying "this is only temporary. this is only temporary" until you belive it!

Yaaayyyyy!!!! CONGRATULATIONS! That's great news! The only advice/tip I have to offer is it's no longer gauche to add ice cubes to white wine if it's not cold. :D

CONGRATULATIONS! Our attempt to sell our home before emigrating did not have a happy ending, and it is SO good to see that there are people out there who are managing to sell!

Oh, and about the move? It's easier to just shovel it all into boxes and then throw those away. (Oh wait, is it still earth day? My bad.)

So...what you're saying is...you're bored and have nothing to do. Ha!

Congratulations! This is a lot - but it's all good things, right?

Been there, done that babe! Moved from Kansas to Utah with about six days to prepare. But that's military life for ya! Good luck! The only thing I advise is that as you pack you start using one corner of the house to store things you will need in the first few days after you move in. Take those things in the car with you (if you have decent trunk space), clearly labeled, so you can find them super easily in the mess of the move.
