StinkBug Wins House Hunters

Since WE can't sell our damn house which means I can't BUY another house in our new location I have been living vicariously through House Hunters. Suprisingly, StinkBug and Peanut are VERY dedicated viewers. We are talking Diehard Fans. StinkBug DEMANDS that I rewind it if he walks in the room and I have started watching an episode. He is a connoisseur of large kitchens and spa like bathrooms. An island is on his list of  must-haves. He likes clean lines. He comments on paint color and yard size. The boy just turned 5. Naturally he picks his favorite house and hopes to heck they pick it too!

We just entered  new territory. We now compete with our predictions. It was the episode in Minneapolis where the guy has looked at 120 freaking places...over 3 years! You can read more about it here. I wanted to throat punch Chris AND kick him in the nut sack. Though I'm not sure he has one of those since he seems totally incapable of making a DECISION. Who takes three years to buy a damn house?

StinkBug (and Apaprently Tara & Chris) loved the first house..it was a Tudor- totally move in ready with a funky kitchen floor. I thought for sure that analytic overthinker Chris would go with the fixer upper so he could build equity...way more square footage. And since every third word out of his mouth is EQUITY. EQUITY. EQUITY it seemed obvious.

We both cast our votes. When they announced the winner StinkBug starts jumping on the bed and in my face appropriately yelling "in da face, in da face!"

What's your favorite House Hunters episode? What do you love to hate about the show?

I haven't watched that show, but I love that your five year old is so into it.

It is a MUST see! He now thinks that ppl look at 3 houses before the buy one..since that is all the film on House Hunters!

OMG! I have been hooked on that show for years. My 6 year old, however, doesn't share my enthusiasm. I wish he did! That cracks me up. I love watching the International ones because the places usually seem like such dumps compared to what we expect for similar prices.

I've only seen bits and pieces of that show...never a full episode. Now, I'm gonna have to change that.

It sounds like you might have a home designer on your hands!!

I used to watch that show ALL the time, like every single night, when we were house hunting which we did for nearly two years! I still watch it sometimes.

Sounds like somebody may have a future career in real estate!

I, too, used to watch that show. I actually LOVED it, but I guess I don't have any extra time now!

Sadly, not only can we not afford to go house hunting, but we have the cheap-o cable that does not include the channel that House Hunters is on (HGTV?)! So I need to live vacariously through your playback of the episodes! ;)

I have caught Curb Appeal eps here and there when out somewhere that has that channel, and I'd totally be hooked if we got it!

I LOVE House Hunters! I am no longer on the market for a house, but I still watch to vicariously live through the home buyers on the show. Do you watch House Hunters International? I like that one, too!

Oh, and Stink Bug sounds like an awesome kid!

I have a love/hate relationship with the show. I get sooo annoyed by ppl who say stupid cliches and buy a house based on their dogs needs. I do love seeing what they get for the $$ in other countries!

You really should watch it! I may have created a monster though. When we finally DO buy a house we might not be able to meet his expectations :)

I record EVERY SINGLE EPISODE! I actually did find it helpful in the past when we were in the market for a new home.

I record every episode and usually watch when I am folding laundry or avoiding something else.

we went w/o any tv for about 9 months last year so i feel your pain. We survived on Netflix.

There's one episode where the couple is from down south, looking for a vacation property on some island. The girl has this scratchy voice. For whatever reason it bugged me an intrigued me at the same time.

what? You are missing out! Actually I tivo it and watch when I am multitasking but it is fun to live vicariously through others!

I could watch it all day long. And I love the vacation editions. I'm so envious.
