Word of the week: DISTRACTIONS
It seems like my life is one giant distraction. I start a task only to be distracted by a question that can't wait, a desperate and immediate need for a glass of chocolate milk, or to referee yet another sibling squabble. One minute I am folding laundry, my mind buzzing with items to add to the grocery list, phone calls to make, emails to send, chores to be done. The doorbell rings and two monkeys race to answer it, screaming "I'll get it" and thrilled the neighbors are here to play. I close the front door as they dart down the stairs already working out the details of what they will play. I pause for a moment, wondering what I was about to do. I wind the cord of the vaccum cleaner I used earlier to suck up the millions of pine needles left behind. As I open the closet door to put it away I decide there are way too many jackets and coats so I grab a box and start tossing some in to donate. StinkBug's too small camouflage hoodie will be a perfect fit for Ryan so I head out to the garage to add it to the basket of things I have already gathered. Walking back in the house, I glance in the minivan, see my purse and remember the mail I shoved in it as I rushed to pick up the kids from school on Friday. As I sit down on the couch to read the mail, I shove the laundry basket out of the way and think "why the hell am I always folding laundry? Why doesn't it ever get finished?"
