Friday Fragments #44

It seems impossible that summer is nearly half over. Sometimes I am desperate to get back to the routines and whirlwind of activities that school brings. Other times I love that my kids can sleep until 11:45 and stay in work their pajamas ALL FREAKING DAY. It's been a challenging summer with Big Yankee and I trying to adjust our work schedules and survive without any formal child care. We're fortunate to have a network of friends who are more than willing to take the kids for a few hours here and there.

We enjoyed a quick vacation to Tahoe in early July. Despite my failure to pack Peanut's bathing suit and the incredibly HOT temperatures we had some much needed rest and relaxation. There was plenty of fishing, some beach time and the most delicious shrimp and green chili hush puppies at Blue Angel Cafe in South Lake Tahoe.

A few weeks ago Big Yankee decided to become an extreme couponer. I wished him luck and very adamantly proclaimed "I ain't got time for that." I offered to continue doing 98% of the grocery shopping if he did all the coupon grunt work. And yet last week I found myself researching this money saving phenomenon, purchasing and setting up a coupon binder. This is what happens when I have a slow week at work.

We've been househunting since April but refuse to expand our search into other elementary school zones thus making it nearly impossible to find an abode that meets our needs and is in our price range. I'm not ashamed to admit that I surf house porn in my free time. On Monday we looked at a place that meets our minimum specifications (4 bedrooms, 2 living areas, in our district) and would be a great fit. Sadly the situation is beyond complicated and our realtor said we should hold off on making an offer right now.

What's new in your world?

I cannot believe that summer is half over already, either! I love the sleeping in and no homework, but I also crave routine that the school year brings. That being said, I am not ready for school! Am going to try and stretch out the rest of the summer as best I can. Good luck with the house hunting. Such a challenging process.

It goes soooo fast doesn't it? I'm all for stretching it out!

House hunting is so frustrating. Here in Southern CA the market is wacky right now. But I do love me some house porn. Redfin.com when I was looking to buy, HGTV and Pinterest where I look at things I pretend I'll do to my house.
