Black Tuesday

I would love to compose a swoon worthy post to commemorate Valentine's Day full of love, flowery language and all that crap. But, quite honesty I am not feeling it. NOT. AT. ALL. Maybe it is because I am old or cynical. Most likely both.

Same shit, different day for me here in Casa de Loco.

Thanks to the trash trucks and the cars driving on the crunchy snowy, ice covered roads I woke up earlier than I wanted. When my alarm went off a few minutes later I had no idea why I set it early, so I covered my head with a pillow and willed my headache away. No such luck.

When the clock struck seven I remembered that I was making cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I'd like to say I leaped out of bed with a renewed sense of purpose and love in my heart but we all know that isn't the least bit true. I did, in fact, stumble to the kitchen and pop open a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls cuz that is how I bake. I also popped open a can of Coke because we all know I am a coke whore.

I staggered downstairs to check the computer since my lovely laptop has been on vacation since last Thursday. Twitter and Facebook assaulted me with VD greetings. Yes, I am snickering like a 12 year old boy because IT IS FUNNY. HILARIOUS I tell you.

Everyone seems to need to broadcast to the world how much they are loved by posting pics of their spectacular gifts, details or their phenomenal plans, examples of their breathtaking crafty creations that will be the hit of the school parties.

Me? I sent $3 cover charge and Fun Dips. I rock like that. Jealous much?

I let the monkeys sleep in about 10 minutes since my fabulous rolls were still cooking and there would be grumbling about hunger and deprivation if they had to wait even two minutes to eat. Einstein is pissed that I let him sleep in because he's ten. Peanut rubs the sleep from her eyes and can't wait to see the breakfast surprise. At least someone is excited.

Einstein and Peanut collide as they both stagger around the hallway corner. Einstein dramatically drops to the floor, screaming and yelling at his sister. It is completely 100% her fault or so he leads her to believe. She runs to her room sobbing, "It was an accident! I said I'm sorry!" All this commotion wakes StinkBug who opens the bedroom door and glares at all of us for ruining his life.

And that, my friends, is how We do VD in Fractured Family Tale Land.

My bff sent me a text "Happy Black Tuesday!"

She gets me. and she loves me.

I am so excited for my first link up with yeahwrite.me.

Thanks..I'm excited to be here! I would make my kids eat at school but it would be a huge battle..and I would have to get up earlier. Which would suck.

Loved this! I think you were able to write it and be that witty and clever in the morning because of the Coke! (-:
PS: I could smell those cinnamon rolls from here!

I totally get this. It's just another day, right? And it sounds like yours was pretty good, all things considered.

You baked! Amazing. I am reading posts cause my hubby's snoring is messing up my dreams. Happy Wednesday, when grey returns :)

Thanks for the welcome! I'm all about spreading VD. My bff does rock.

Coke is required for my wit and cleverness to function. Next time I will save you a cinammon roll!

It is just another day and it was pretty good thanks to Papa Murphys and their heart shaped pizza that I picked up when I screwed up swim lesson time and showed up an hour early.....

Black Tuesday! I looooove it. Pillsbury cinnamon rolls is how I bake too. Is there any other way?

Pilsbury Cinnamon rolls are the next best thing to Cinnabon. Awesomeness in a tub.
We don't do Valentine's Day either and I definitely can't get myself to bake first thing in the morning.
Thanks for keeping it real.

That you even got up to put something in the oven?? Bravo, lady, bravo.

Over here, we let Valentine's Day roll by like the cynics we are.

Robbie K said...

Back in the days we were single and cynical we would dress in black and have a girls night out.

Robbie K said...

thanks for the compliment. Did you have to stifle the urge to scream at my 10 yr old for being a drama king? Cuz I did.

Robbie K said...

Love to cook. HATE to bake! Apparently Pioneer Woman makes some delicious, mouthwatering homemade cinnammon rolls. WAY too much effort for me.

Robbie K said...

Now I am salivating for Cinnabon.I am shocked I mustered the energy to pop open the can and slide them in the oven but the rest of the world was probably getting red heart shaped pancakes a al Pinterest so it's the least I could do!

Cynics unite! I went and picked up the kids from school and all the moms were dressed in VD garb...what the? I was pleased with myself for showering my 3 and they were dressed in cute red outfits with heart accessories!
