Getting Back Out There

I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK TO WORK!!

There I said  shouted it. Ecstatic doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about returning to the land of employment.

I've been unemployed for a year and 10 days. This is the longest in my ENTIRE life that I have gone without paid employment. I started "real tax paying jobs" when I was 15 1/2.

I'm a worker bee. It's what I do. I thrive on chaos--the more I have to do the more I accomplish.

While I LOVED being at home this past year I am ready for the "break" that working outside the home will give me.

Sure I will have deadlines, trainings, meetings, tons and tons of paperwork.

It goes without saying that I will get lost 1743 times since I am both brand spankin' new to the area AND directionally challenged.

I'll have to brush my hair, shower before school pick up and wear REAL pants on a near daily basis.

I'm certain to encounter annoying people who are just begging for a throat punch from yours truly (there's one in every crowd).

But I'll get to drive in a car...BY MYSELF. No your eyes did not deceive you. I'll pause for a sec so you can re-read that. A-L-O-N-E!

I'll have a co-worker. I'll interact with adults (or people impersonating adults) on a daily basis.

I'll get to cuddle new babies-sniff their heads, rock them and count their fingers and toes.

I'll teach at-risk families about child development, how to be their child's first teacher, how to access resources, how to break patterns of behavior and cycles of poverty/addiction/domestic violence.

I'll teach them not only how to survive but how to thrive.

I'll make a difference.

I'll have the opportunity to change lives.

And I can't wait to get back out there.

OK...my bad! I got so excited for you reading about going back to work that I actually thought "she got a job already!" Wouldn't have surprised me though.

I do enjoy driving in the car myself too and the adult interaction...sometimes. Tee hee.

You will DEFINITELY make a difference Robbie!
