Ten Things about Motherhood

I love kicking off my week with Stasha and Monday Listicles! This weeks topic is perfect timing following Mother's Day Weekend.

1. Their disappointments will break your heart more than your disappointments.

2. You will catch puke in your hands at urgent care without thinking twice.

3. You will be so desperate for time alone that you will ugly cry.

4. You will feel like a part of you is missing when you are away from them for too long.

5. The sleepless nights NEVER end...someone is always puking, too hot/cold, having nightmares or waking up for some reason.

6. You will suffer an extreme case of DRS (Don't Remember $hit)

7. You consume half eaten cold chicken nuggets and green beans from the high chair tray and be thrilled you had time for a fancy meal.

8.  When your not yet 2 year old son chucks his sippy cup while waiting to eat at The Cheesecake Factory you will be mortified. The grandmother who got hit in the head with it will laugh and share an embarrassing story about her son who is 6 ft 4 and standing next to her.

9. After 2 inductions, vacuum extractor and emergency c-section a scheduled c-section will feel like checking into an all-inclusive resort for an extended vacation.

10. Making a decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.~~ Elizabeth Stone

Can relate to "almost" all of these. Especially can relate to number 6 - DRS...PERFECT! I'm afraid I'm not a "puke catcher" (thank goodness hubby is) and my deliveries were pretty uneventful. Phew.

Happy Belated Mother's Day Robbie!

I too can especially relate to the DRS. I'm hoping my mind comes back someday. Great list...I can relate to all.

WTF is wrong with me that i thought that pic was one of a Twinkie and not a chicken nugget till after i read this? anyway, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I have a severe case of DRS!! In fact reading this reminded me of something I have to do. But I cannot remember what I just remembered.

Great list Robbie! I must confess, I've never known the joys of a scheduled c-section. With kid 2, she decided to come 2 days BEFORE my scheduled c-section. I do believe it just might have been like a mini vacation if I didn't have those damn labor pains!

Diane said...

Two c-sections here too and that second one, the planned one, was a piece of cake compared to the one that was preceded by 26 hours of labor, for sure!

I definitely have a bad case of the DRS. HA But I have to say that the sleepless nights did finally end for me. Don't give up hope on it yet!

Excuse me a minute...*gagging & heaving* LOL! Actually I`m kinda serious here. Just the thought is about enough to put me over the edge. What a woosie I know.

So very true! It's all second nature now. Great list. And thanks for the retweet! Very kind.

Great list. You're right about the sleepless nights never ending. My boys are 6 and 8 now and one (or both) of them wakes me up every night still. Ugh!

DRS! I spent 2 days looking for my house keys. In related news, still can't find my new jeans. Ellen

Ha! Eating off the high chair tray....so true. And I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one with DRS. :)

Robbie K said...

That use to be me!

hope you enjoyed mother's day with your boys!

Robbie K said...

MY DRS gets worse with each additional kid and every birthday I celebrate.

Robbie K said...

#3..maybe we can ugly cry together?

#8 happened with the first kid so initially I was mortified.

Robbie K said...

lol..believe me if it was a Twinkie i'd be hoarding them till after bedtime. #willnotshare

Robbie K said...

haha. several time a day I get on computer to do something and by the time I do I forget what I needed to do in the first place.

Robbie K said...

It is a whole different world isn't it..and much much easier and faster recovery!

Robbie K said...

Thanks on both accounts ;)

sorry you missed out on your mini vacation. Glad you enjoyed the list.

Robbie K said...

Planned ones are a world of difference aren't they?

My youngest is 5 and still wakes up EVERY STINKIN' NIGHT!..goes right back to sleep but I am not that lucky. I will hold on to the hope though.

Oh yes - catching puke, why is that a mother's first reaction?!

And I have always loved the last quote. Its so damn true!

Everything you said was true. Motherhood - one big oxymoron!

Robbie K said...

yep..pretty much happens w/o a second thought.

Robbie K said...

hope both of us get to sleep thru the night soon :)

Robbie K said...

so you have it too? Seems there is an epidemic!

Robbie K said...

I would probably still eat off the high chair tray if it wasn't collecting dust in the garage.

Robbie K said...

lol...the goodness and joy of babies far outweigh the work..at least that is what I tell myself.

Robbie K said...

thank you.

Robbie K said...

i never envisioned myself a puke catcher but what can you do?

That quote is one of my favorites too!

AudreyN said...

Ah serious DRS sufferer here! And I could never catch puke ick! And #8 is so true! Thank goodness grandma's are so nice about things :)

Robbie K said...

yeah another..wait what did you say you suffer from. and what does it stand for?

Also Never say never :)

Kristen said...

OMG. Robbie. Everytime I come over here I have to remember to go potty first because I laugh so hard. Great list. Awesome, really!

Adrienne said...

Oh yes! The puke thing! It's amazing what we can stomach (no pun intended) for our own children. Now, let someone else's kid puke on me? I will freak out!

Robbie K said...

we need a DRS support group but we'd probably forget when the meetings are.

She was a very sweet lady even with her sippy cup induced head injury.

Robbie K said...

Thank you very much Kristen.

Glad you can lol at my expense :)

Robbie K said...

why is it that we can handle our own kid's puke but not other kids?
