Stuck

I can write almost anywhere -strolling through the memorial rose garden on my near daily treks, rinsing  Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship conditioner in my almost daily showers, chopping onions for a salad, sitting on the river bank watching Einstein fly fish. That's when I produce some of my best work.

I write detailed descriptions, raise important questions and reflect on past experiences. Sometimes I am snarky and amusing and other times serious and searching.  My writing is raw and honest and scary and heartbreaking and I often end up with a few tears gliding down my cheeks. My words are larger than life and yet incredibly minute.

I cannot seem to write in the places that matter.  At the keyboard. In my Important Notebook. On a clipboard. I cannot make my words concrete. I'm unable to give meaning to my experiences-my heartaches and my joys.

I am paralyzed by my laptop keyboard, by my Papermate Retractable blue ink pen.

I can't get these words out of my head.

They are stuck and so am I.

I think you write in all the places that matter! Just carry your notebook with you!

I have the hardest time writing when I'm supposed to ;) We'll just have to make our own rules!

Me too. I have so many things in my head, but when I sit down,.....the words won't come. I even jot things down during the day in a notebook I keep in my purse, but still.....I can't make it sound as good as my mind thinks it. I hope you find your way to get un-stuck. If you do, let me in on your secret.

I am too! I am hoping it is just the summer and that I don't want to be tied down to the computer. I also have had a hard time not feeling guilty for spending so much time at it without bringing in any money for our household.
Maybe you should get a waterproof laptop to take into the shower with you. ;-)
Hope your block frees up soon!!

I agree. Aren't we writing all the time in our heads. Yes, just carry a small notebook around to jot notes to yourself. That should help a bit. Great post. One that any writer can relate to.

I carry a small notebook and I also use my phone to jot down notes as they come to me. I think that all writers can relate to this. Great post!

Writing is a blessing and sometimes a curse. It does in time pay off though.

Sounds like you have the words, just not at that moment when you can write them down. Hopefully you can get those thoughts down on paper(or computer LOL).

Me too! I come up with the best posts (in my mind) when I'm in the shower.

You certainly did a great job with this post!

I think this is probably the best way to describe how I've been feeling lately. I keep hoping something will help trigger me to write it out b/c it feels very important in my head. I partly think my reasons is because it might not be that important after all and that is disappointing to me. Like the others who have commented, if you figure out the secret to get unstuck, share! :)

I am going through the same thing right now! Total writer's block when I go to write but in that toddler bed, I get tons of ideas. :)

I'm all about making my own rules!

It is incredibly frustrating isn't it? I write entire posts in my head in the shower or driving down the street and then I grab a notebook or fire up the laptop and POOF it's all gone!

I'm hoping it's just the summer too! My brain swirls with ideas and I write entire posts in my head and then when I can actually put the words somewhere concrete I got nuthin'!

Thank you. I usually carry a notebook but even that isn't working now. :( Hopefully it is just a bump in the road.

Thanks you! I'm not tech savy enough to put notes in my phone. Maybe I just need a sassy new notebook since my important purple spiral doesn't seem to be doing the trick?

I love that. Very true.

Exactly. When I have the time and means I don't the words. And when there's no chance in hell I can write anything down they flow freely.

Someone really needs to invent a waterproof laptop.

Thanks :)

The same is true for me! If I could write half as well with my finger tips and a keyboard as I do in my head while I'm driving around a sleeping baby, I'd have a best seller. But, I must say, for someone who is "stuck," you write really well! :)
