Once upon a time there was a little girl who had a lot of curl and loved little kids. She was OBSESSED with babies. She had plans to move into the White House and adopt 81 children. She grew up playing school with her dolls, her little brother and anyone else she could coerce into playing. This girl begged her teachers for extra worksheets, Instructor magazines and all things school related. She started to grow up and she LOVED babysitting. She watched other people's children every chance she got.
She also loved to write. She was the editor of her school paper. She wavered between journalism and teaching. She was indecisive and too young to be making those kinds of choices. She went away to journalism school because that is what she thought people expected her to do. As she strolled across campus she would look longingly at the lab preschool.
Many sad things happened that last year but she was <this close> to graduating and realized that's not what she wanted to do. So she quit school and moved back to her hometown. She worked some random jobs and took a few business classes at the technical school. The girl was miserable. She went back to college and tried to finish her journalism degree. But she was still miserable. She quit again because she was tired of wasting time and money.
She got a job. She loved it. She couldn't believe she was getting paid to work with young children. Then she got a different job working with low-income, at-risk preschoolers. This is where she belonged. She went back to school and became a teacher.
