The Princess and the Blog

Once upon a time on the great plains of the midwest lived a princess someone who thought she should be treated like a princess. Her knight in shining armor had to leave their beloved castle and head to the land of milk and potatoes to make his millions keep food on the table.

She no longer worked outside the castle-a victim of a layoff in the downward spiraling economy. She had three heirs-two of which spent most of their day at school. She cooked and cleaned and tried to sell their house and felt more like Cinderella than a Fairy Princess. But she still had too much free time on her hands. She wasn't into spinning straw into gold, couldn't sing worth a damn and didn't have a  fork finding fish for a best friend.

She was in uncharted territory and had no idea what to do so she started spewing out her thoughts and hitting publish. She read blogs. She laughed and she cried, nodded her head and said "hell yeah!" She marveled at the strength of others-at their bravery, their tales of survival and heartbreak, their magical way with words. It was her therapy. A place all her own. It got her through.

And then the castle sold and she was reunited with her knight in shining armor. Her life became a different kind of fairy tale. She became a work outside the castle princess and life took over and her time was not her own anymore.

And then she stopped writing and reading. And she couldn't get through it. But she wanted to live happily ever after so she found her way back to the blogging kingdom. And she hit publish.
