Reflections on Moving

A few notes to myself:

**Go ahead and pull that muscle patting yourself on the back for your ingenious idea of packing wine glasses in the kid's lunchboxes. In a few months you will be mortified when the new school calls and says "maybe where you're from the kids drink Pinot Grigio with pb & j but around these parts we send juice boxes."

**Yes we ALL know you've spent the last 10 years 7 months of your life spending every waking moment preparing for house showings and now that they're over you can breathe a big sigh of relief. You might want to rethink the "let the kids and their toys take over the house" strategy though. Case in point: when you sashay stumble your way to the kitchen in the middle of the night  after your marathon training session when you can pry yourself away from the laptop for vitamin enriched organic hormone free water cheap wine and trip over the Little People Zoo, face plant into the Little People car wash and end up with Michael the mechanic in a compromising position it might not seem like such great idea. (or it might but a lot of that depends on Michael and his tools!)

**If you post a desperate plea for help on Facebook like this you will be lucky to receive a few smart ass comments. If you are getting rid of things (riding lawnmowers, clothes dryers, and refrigerators) you will receive 14 DMs within 80 seconds from "friends" you haven't seen since 1986.

I think packing wine glasses in lunch boxes is ingenious! Wish I lived closer because I would help you! (And take a lawnmower off your hands). I hope you survived being impaled by a Little People Person!

Those are excellent points. I'm forever being impaled by Hotwheels or Thomas the Train pieces.

Oh I am going through this too. We found out two weeks ago that we are moving to England beginning of August. We can't sell our house in that short of time, so we are having to hire property management, keep the house clean for potential renters to come look, and we have to get rid of A LOT of stuff. All electronics, a spare "project" 1969 Beetle that is in pieces, our minivan, our truck, etc. Add acquiring passports and visas for everyone and all the medical and dental records and clearances.. we are freaking out a little bit.

Why does it have to be like this??? WHy can't it be that there's a company (a one stop shop) that swoops in, and in one day they pack up your house, deliver everything to a new house, tidy up and sell the old and you never have to life a finger? Maybe I will found this magical company someday to save us all from the hell of boxes, showings and moving in general.

ha! Must be something in the air. We are possibly moving to Romania (Germany for the first 9 mos) this fall as well. I just started the passport process for the boys and myself. I can't wrap my head around anything else. I am starting small. Good luck to you!
