Moving On

Days are speeding by.

Minutes zoom.

Hours whizz.

The voice in my brain constantly taunts me.

"Nine more days, eight more days, seven more days" in a rushed whisper.

I squeeze my eyes closed.

Take a deep breath.

Will the voice away.

Only it gets louder and faster.

Time is running out.

I am running on empty.

Completely overwhelmed.

Nobody expects me to do it all.

At least that is what they say.

Yet I feel like I should do more.

Need to do more.

MUST DO MORE.

In seven days everything we own will be loaded onto a moving van and we will drive away.

From this house.

These memories.

Our life here.

I'm sad and excited.

Exhausted and energized.

Relieved and worried.

Scared as hell and quietly confident.

Holding on to the final moments and rushing through everything.

Linking up with Shell is exactly what my heart needs today.

I know that it's hard, but you'll be starting a new adventure together. It will be okay.

Oh this is so relatable. I am on the verge of these feelings- and you put them together so well. I will have to keep you on speed dial. You'll be on the other side soon- take heart!

I could feel everything you meant as you wrote this! I also read it almost rushed like the way you are truly feeling with having to box everything up and tie up the loose ends. I'm so very happy for you!!!xo

whoa - the last time I moved was from the condo we lived in when we were married to our current home...where we've raised a dog, had babies, made friends, put our stamp on the land. I can feel ya - leaving that - no matter how necessary - wouldn't be easy. good luck.

We're moving this weekend too and I feel all of the same; you articulated so well. Best of luck to you, I know we'll both get through it!

Moving is SO FREAKIN' HARD. Thinking of you sending strength to get through the final push.

Well done Robbie. We get the vivid picture. It is so hard to pack up and move away from tangible memories. It's your history, and on into your future where more memories will be forged. I wish you the best and look forward to your updates.

Moving is so scary sometimes. You know you want to, but are sad to see what you have go.

Every move contains a little metaphorical death, you know? Sorry to go so deep on you but it's true: endings remind us of our mortality. I always find it's toughest right before a big change - then that first day, once it's over you are home free. Good luck!

Moving is always stressful! Good luck!

Beautifully written. Just as change is difficult, likewise moving. I'm sure the thrill and excitement will sweep you off your feet.

Ahhh I'm moving right now too!!! This definitely spoke to me.

Oh moving! We moved across the county 7 years ago and it was the most stressful thing I have ever done.

That being said your mixture of excitement, confidence, and capturing memories may be the best attitude out there.

thank you :)
I'm looking forward to the other side...it's the leaving this side that is breaking my heart.

Robbie K said...

Thanks :)
I cannot believe it FINALLY happened. Now how about coming over and helping me pack :0

Robbie K said...

Exactly. This place is overflowing with memories. I know we will make new ones and we will still have the memories but we are leaving behind the physical reminders of them.

Robbie K said...

Thanks :)
I hate the in between...leaving but not yet gone. Starting somewhere new but not there yet.

Robbie K said...

Good luck with your move! I just want it to be over.

Robbie K said...

Thanks so much..I need all the strength i can get!

your words capture it perfectly too and are making me teary-eyed. <3

Robbie K said...

You are EXACTLY right. I want to go but I don't want to leave.

Robbie K said...

Very deep and totally on target. I can't wait to get in the van and drive away b/c it will mean the goodbyes are over and we are starting again.

Robbie K said...

It is and you'd think I'd be better at it given the number of times we've moved. It's much harder with kids.

Robbie K said...

Thanks for your beautiful, kind words. i'm ready for the thrill and excitement.

Robbie K said...

are you as ready for it to be over with as I am? Good luck!

We moved here from the West Coast 7 years ago too. I know we'll make it through but sometimes that is hard to imagine when you are in the trenches.
