Soundtrack of my Misspent Youth

Listicle Queen aka Stasha is the reason I look forward to Mondays. This week our challenge was to list ten songs. As a child of the 80s and with my birthday just around the corner I cling to the memories of my youth. Luckily I will spare you the memories that go along with these songs. Yes, I realize my age is showing but I dare you not to love at least a few of these gems.

1. Pour Some Sugar on Me-Def Leppard

2.You Shook Me All Night Long AC/DC

3. Red Red Wine- Ub40

4. I Hate Myself for Loving You-Joan Jett

5. The Flame Cheap Trick

Another night slowly closes in,
And I feel so lonely.
Touching heat freezing on my skin,
I pretend you still hold me.
I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in way too deep over you.
I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first, you'll be the last.

6. Tall Cool One-Robert Plant

7. Brass Monkey -Beastie Boys

8. Respect-Aretha Franklin

9. I Want Your Sex- George Michael

10. Forever Young -Rod Stewart

If I had a nickel for every time I rocked out to Pour Some Sugar on Me...well, it would be a crapload of nickels. I have attempted to sing at least 3 of these at karaoke. Not pretty.

Best song list ever. Seriously.

I love and remember all of these songs! The music from the 80's rocks...and it doesn't get any better! I find my 16 year old son listens to (and downloads to his i-pod) a lot of the songs I remember. Good times. Great music. Loved this post

Oh, Forever Young! Totally forgot about that song! It should've been on my list! I love your list and I'm 29...songs have nothing to do with age ;)
And in case I miss it, Happy Birthday! :)

You got 2 that I really hated to cut off my own list - Pour Some Sugar and Joan Jett! We really should make a date to drink coke, play tunes and make sock monkey puppets.

I think we would've been the type of friends who would bring their dub each other's tapes!!! ;)

How could I have left Rod off my list??? Saw him a few years back and he was still great!!! *sigh*

I remember singing at the top of my lungs to Pour Some Sugar on Me. Twenty years later I cringe because I realize what the song is about and I was singing my heart out with my parents at twelve years old. Ahhh! Lol. GREAT LIST!

I love music posts. There's some good stuff in your list.

Love your list! Child of the 80s? No, I was keg-cup-in-hand in the 80s...belting out the words to all the tunes in your listicle!

Big hair and music sisters unite!

Tell me when and where and I am so there. Would it be weird if we made music videos with our sock monkey puppets?

Robbie K said...

Ahh I miss tape dubbing days! Is it wrong that I've held on to some of my mix tapes?

Robbie K said...

I wanted to add I Love Rock N Roll to my list but it didn't make the cut.

Ha ha.I wasn't exactly a child of the 80s either. We were singing these at the keg parties in the cow pastures.

Oh wow--your list takes me way back!! UB40, Joan Jett, Aretha, Rod Stewart--love them! (Actually I'm not crazy about Rod Stewart but do like "Forever Young"!)

What a great list! Ok, a few notes here:
1. Joan Jett is one of my all time faves. Hands down.
2. We taught Brody to sing 'Chase Monkey.. that funky monkey' and it is freaking to die for hilarious. He has the right pitch and everything.
3. You inspired my post today which talks about how two songs in particular from the Stones are making the soundtrack to my motherhood life.

AudreyN said...

Great list! My toddler was rocking out to the songs!

Stasha said...

I want you sex!! Love that one. These seem so long ago. Back when MTV played music videos ;)

We cranked that as we cruised in Grand Ams, Jeep Cherokees and Honda Preludes.

Robbie K said...

Ahh the memories.

Robbie K said...

I almost put I Love Rock N Roll on my list too. I would kill to see a video of Chase Monkey!

Robbie K said...

Don't you love sharing music with your kids?

Robbie K said...

One of our favorites to blast on the radio as we cruised town.

Great list of songs! Loved me some AC/DC back in the day! I grew up between 70s classic rock 'n roll and 80s disco. I happily stuck with rock!

Robbie K said...

Thanks...AC/DC blasting was the sign of a great keg party.
