Younger Self

Monday funday mystical listicles day.

Everyone should check out Stasha and link up with Monday Listicles at least once. You'll be hooked.

This week we're listing how we are the same or different than our younger self.

Same

-I still love 80s music.

-I still can't snap.

-I still skinny legs (but not the body to go with it)

-I still prefer late nights and sleeping in.

- I still am directionally challenged.

Different

- I can now have straight hair thanks to the miracle of product and flat irons.

- I can be quite the penny pincher when necessary.

- I would rather buy clothes for my kids than for myself.

- I'm no longer a sun worhsipper but I still miss being drenched with baby oil with the boom box cranked and hanging with my girls.

- I'm a wine drinker now...something I didn't start until I was nearly 30.

I can't snap either and I'm directionally challenged, too - especially when I'm inside a building.

Yay for wine! I have NO sense of direction. I can't remember how I functioned before GPS!

I miss worshipping the sun. I still have fond memories of days spent laying out listening to music and doing absolutely nothing. *sigh*

Cool list. Very interesting what changes and what doesn't.

I used to drench myself in baby oil and lie out with a transistor radio at my ear. Now I'm into hats and SPFs.

oh yes, the days of slathering up in Hawaiian Tropic dark tanning oil, with the tunes cranked up, the oranges filled with wine, or vodka and watch the boys go by.
growing up just sucks big. :P

I can't snap worth beans either, and I'm also directionally challenged. And you have that type of hair that I always coveted when I was younger--I was desperate for curly, wavy hair like my sister had!

Did you mix iodine with your baby oil for optimum tanning?

I get completely turned around in buildings...everything looks the same. I feel as if I am in a maze.

I can't believe I waited so long to become a wine lover.

Those were the days....

Thanks. It is funny hos some things change and some things stay the same.

I miss those days of oily tanning glory. But I'm with you on sun protection now.

I can almost smell Hawaiian Tropic right now. You must have magical powers!

Funny how we want what we can't have isn't it? I always wanted long, shiny, straight hair.

I missed out on the iodine.

I am NOT directionally challenged, yet I can't drive! But I'm a great navigator.

And wine is the best.

Aaah, those sweet sun-worshipping, baby-oil-drenched boom-box days! What a fun post. Wish I thought to do Listicles this week. I started a new job yesterday. Blogging is gonna take a huge hit. Sigh.

You need to write a song to go with those lyrics at the top. Very catchy. Let me know when the YouTube video comes out..

And firmly believe that the best sleep occurs between 7:30 and 10 am. No doubt.

And Viva la Flat Iron!

I'm sorry but it still cracks me up that you can't snap. ;P

I am definitely a night owl too and much prefer to buy clothes for my family.

Wine at 30??? OMG...you better drink fast! Lots of catching up to do. :D

I don't worship the sun anymore either. I hide from it! I also love to shop for my girls and avoid stores for me like the plague! My friends drag me when they are sick of seeing me in the same things over and over again. ;-)

Robbie K said...

Wish you lived closer-I could drive you around and you could tell me how to get everywhere@

Robbie K said...

Congrats on new job! Are you going to blog about it or did you already and I just missed it?

Robbie K said...

I will write the lyrics if you'll sing. I am a horrible singer--one of those people who is so bad they don't even know it!

Robbie K said...

Good point on the wine--I definitely have to make up for lost time.

Every year I had a few pre-k kids who were DETERMINED they could teach me to snap. Bless their hearts they sure did try!

Robbie K said...

It's so much more fun to shop for kids b/c you aren't trying to hide this or minimize that or accentuate this...

I am soo directionally challenged. The other day I got lost coming home from a pumpkin patch 10 minutes from my house! Darn country roads get me so mixed up! Oh, and totally jealous of your skinny legs. I am not fat, but I always joke that I've got THUNDER THIGHS. Haha!

hanging by the lake, getting a tan! oh you brought back memories! Whatever did we do before the flatirons?

My daughter is 12, knows everything therefore shopping with her sucks. Otherwise, I too enjoy buying for her than trying to figure if the size 12 I want is a true 12, a 14, 16 or more!
