Totally Loving the 80s

Kate had the brilliant idea to list 10 Things Totally 80s for Monday Listicles

1. Big Hair (and I totally rocked it in case you were wondering)

2. Levis 501s

3. Denim mini skirt with leggings

I would have been wearing this number with a few pair of slouch socks and my high top white  Reeboks.

4. Keggers with Kids -usually in an empty field or at somebody's cabin

5. Hot rollers

6. Cool Ranch Doritos debuted in 1986

7. Forenza v-neck sweaters
In our cutting edge world of fashion we cut out the tag and wore them backwards (so the v was in the back). It HAD to be worn over a white t-shirt.

8.Godfather's Pizza was THE after dance hangout in junior high

9. Bon Jovi supplied the soundtrack of my misspent youth.

10. How we communicated with our BFFs before texting was invented

What says 80s to you?

I also was a fan of the big hair, and I actually have the perfect hair for it. I had the Forenza sweaters on my list, too! We never did the keggers with kids, though. I've have found that here in Indy, it was cool to steal the beer out of people's garage refrigeraters.

How could I have forgotten #10? And all the different ways we used to fold them? Pretty brilliant, for back then.

OMG! I still have a ziplock Baggie full of notes from my BFF's folded exactly like that. Awesome! The hot rollers...oh, the hot rollers. Godfather's - forgot about that place! I totally forgot about the Forenza v-necks worn BACKWARDS - so totally 80s. I suppose we had a we silly things like they ave today - wearing jeans below the butt. Great post!

Dude, I swear I had that exact sweater. And those notes? I wish the kids still communicated that way!

January 12th hubs and I are going to a nearby castle (yes, castle) for their 80's/90's night party. I am so curious I can hardly stand it. Nice list- and of course I had a Forenza too!

I also still have a bunch of intricately folded notes. Reading them now makes my brain hurt.

Hot rollers! Mine looked just like that. I can remember getting up at 530a just so I would have time to hot roll my hair before school. I was crazy

I think the only thing I did not have going for me were the hot roller - BECAUSE I HAD A PERM!!!

Love the 80's, love your list!

I remember ALL of these. My life was so much easier when the big hair was in because my hair took right to the BIG. Now it's a daily fight it to keep it down!

Yes! The Forenza sweaters . . . worn backwards. We were so cool.

Now MY daughter is using MY hot rollers (that are just like the ones you pictured) from the 80s. It's an heirloom. ;) Ellen

Gotta love the big hair! I LOVED my Forenza sweater too!

Those folded notes were a bit edgy weren't they?

Robbie K said...

I have BOXES full of those folded notes too.

Robbie K said...

Notes were great weren't they? I was mortified when a note I wrote ended up pinned to the bulliten board in Language Arts class. That's what the teacher did if she busted you reading them in class.

Robbie K said...

My first set of hot rollers are probably still in the bathroom cabinet at my parents's house.

A castle?? I am totally jealous! What a rad party that will be.

Robbie K said...

Glad I am not the only hoarder. :)

Robbie K said...

They were amazing weren't they?

Robbie K said...

haha I still have plenty of those notes too!

Robbie K said...

YES! I would wash and dry my hair and then hot roller them before school every single day!

Robbie K said...

Thanks! I had naturally curly hair so it seems odd how addicted I was to my hot rollers.

Robbie K said...

Hot rollers were such an amazing invention.

Robbie K said...

I hear you on the hair!

Robbie K said...

and we still are so cool.

So the kids use hot rollers still? Love it.

Robbie K said...

a magnificent slice of manhood is he.

Robbie K said...

the 80s were totally awesome and rad.

Robbie K said...

Big hair is both a blessing and a curse.

my bffs and I had code names for everyone so if a note was confiscated ppl wouldn't know who we were talking about.
